Skilled artisans follow age-old traditions, tanning the leather with crushed, air-dried oak bark before soaking it in a birch bark solution to develop its color and extraordinary resilience. This secret tanning method was once lost to time but made a spectacular comeback in 2017, thanks to the discovery of perfectly preserved leather in an ancient shipwreck and the exceptional talent of Hermès artisans.
